A steaming hot cocktail not only heats things up, but the added bonus of cannabis means you’ll be feeling warm and fuzzy all over — and with options for both a CBD or THC infusion, there’s a little something for everyone.
Read on for your must-have fall cocktails to get the high vibes started.
CBD/THC Mulled Wine
Move over summertime sangria, mulled wine is here to take over these cooler months. Traditionally crafted with a base of bold red wine, this rendition takes things a few steps further with the addition of sparkling apple cider, whole cloves, and spicy cinnamon sticks.
This recipe also calls for star anise, which can sometimes be a difficult ingredient to find, but fret not!
If you cannot find these in the store, go for two teaspoons of Chinese Five Spice Powder or three teaspoons of crushed star anise.
No matter what you decide, be sure to throw in a CBD or THC tincture of your choice to complete this autumn-approved drink.
Ingredients: (Makes 8-10 cups)
● 1.5 liter (magnum) bottle of bold red wine
● 1 bottle of sparkling apple cider
● 4 whole cloves
● 3 cinnamon sticks
● 4 stars of anise (or see above for substitutions)
● Sliced orange or orange peels (optional)
● THC Tincture or CBD Tincture
Instructions:
1. Pour your wine and apple cider into a slow cooker or deep saucepan, followed by the cloves, cinnamon sticks, and stars of anise.
2. Toss in the oranges if desired.
3. Set the slow cooker to low and cook for at least one hour (and up to four hours). If you don’t have a slow cooker, bring ingredients to a boil in the saucepan and simmer for about an hour.
4. As your mulled wine finishes, add in your tincture of choice. Ladle out and serve in mason jars for the ultimate cozy look.
CBD/THC Chai Hot Toddy
Long used as a holistic treatment for the common cold, a hot toddy always does the trick on a chilly day.
This take adds in richly-scented cinnamon, spicy chai tea, and whole milk for a drink that takes comforting to a whole new level.
Grab these surprisingly simple ingredients and a cannabis tincture of your choice to take your mind and body straight to Relaxation Town.
Ingredients: (Makes 5-6 servings)
● 6 cups of water
● 8 chai tea bags
● 1⁄2 cup sugar
● 2 cups whole milk (or non-dairy substitution of choice)
● 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
● 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, plus extra for sprinkling
● 6-8 ounces spiced rum or whiskey (more or less depending on taste)
● THC Tincture or CBD Tincture of choice
Instructions:
1. Fill a large saucepan with the water and bring to a boil. Add in the chai tea bags and allow to steep for 10 minutes.
2. Meanwhile, heat milk and sugar to a low boil in a pot, stirring occasionally to make sure the milk does not scald.
3. Take the milk off the heat and add in the vanilla extract and cinnamon, stirring well.
4. Take the tea bags out of the deep saucepan and gently pour in the steaming milk mixture. Stir until well combined.
5. Finally, add in the alcohol and tincture. Stir until combined and pour into mugs. Finish off with a few dashes of cinnamon and enjoy!
CBD/THC Vegan Spiked Hot Cocoa
Vegans like to have fun too — so brew up a batch of this vegan spiked hot cocoa for a real crowd-pleaser. It’s creamy, chocolatey, easy to make, and oh-so-fall.
Add in some cannabis and trust us, you won’t see hot cocoa the same ever again.
Ingredients: (Makes 4-5 servings)
● 1 can coconut milk
● 2 cups unsweetened almond milk (or dairy-free milk of your choice)
● 2 cups hot water
● 1/2 cup cocoa powder
● 1/3-1/2 cup sugar (more or less depending on taste)
● 1 ounce chopped dark chocolate
● 1/8 teaspoon salt
● 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
● 3-6 ounces of liqueur (like Bailey’s Almande) or whiskey (more or less depending on taste)
● THC Tincture or CBD Tincture of choice
● Vegan whipped cream for topping (optional)
Instructions:
1. Add all ingredients to a slow cooker or deep saucepan, then whisk vigorously until all of the cocoa powder is mixed in.
2. Set slow cooker to low. Let the cocoa cook for 2 hours, stirring occasionally. If you’re using a saucepan, bring the heat to low and stir occasionally.
3. Turn off the heat or set the slow cooker to warm. Now add in your alcohol and tincture of choice. Stir until well combined.
4. Serve hot and top with whipped cream and cinnamon for that festive feeling.
